Visit the historic centre
The old city walls stand still even today and offer an amazing throwback to Faro’s medieval times. Wander around the historic centre and admire the beautiful architecture of the city.

Enjoy Praia De Faro
This is the most iconic beach in Faro. Praia de Faro is 5km away from the city but very close to the airport, and it can get very crowded in summer months.
The beach has golden sands, it is excellent both for a relaxing swim and water sports. There are many cafes and beach bars to enjoy an icy drink during the heat.
From about 10 km from Faro lays the traditional Estoi village. Stop for a coffee or meal at the open-air restaurants in the village. This way, you can enjoy the traditional Portuguese atmosphere and admire the Rococo style buildings.
The two main sights of the village are the Palacio de Estoi and the Milreu Roman Ruins. The Estoi Palace is nowadays a hotel but non-hotel guests are welcomed to visit the palace. The Milreu Roman Villa is one of the best preserved Roman ruins in the Algarve region.
Ria Formosa Natural Park
Ria Formosa Natural Park is well known for its lagoons, mud flats but mostly for the having the highest concentration of sea horses. You can explore the park’s underwater life on a snorkeling session or by a boat tour.
The park is also a stop-over point in birds’ migration routes, so if you like bird-watching this is the place to come. During wintering period, the park provides shelter for over 20.000 bird species, including pink Flamingos or Purple Schwampen.
